We're not going to pretend we build every kind of online store equally well, because we don't try to.
Eqvanto is a shopify development agency focused on D2C and subscription commerce: brands selling direct to consumers, running recurring orders, or scaling past the point where a generic theme and three apps can keep up.
If you sell B2B wholesale through a complex quoting portal or run a marketplace with thousands of third-party sellers, there are better-fit shops for that.
If you're a founder or small team building or scaling a direct-to-consumer brand, this is the page for you, and it's worth saying plainly that a store built for that use case looks different from a store built for anything else: different information architecture, different checkout priorities, different app stack.
What's Included
E-commerce projects at Eqvanto cover the commerce-specific work a general web build doesn't:
- Product catalog structure, variants, and collections built for how customers actually browse and filter
- Checkout optimization, including upsells, bundles, and subscription/recurring billing setup
- Payment gateway configuration (Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal) and tax/shipping rule setup
- App and integration selection (inventory, reviews, loyalty, email/SMS marketing, and fulfillment tools) chosen deliberately rather than stacked on by default
- Theme customization or fully custom storefront development, depending on scope
- Mobile checkout testing, since most D2C traffic converts on a phone, not a desktop
- Post-launch QA on real payment flows, discount codes, and edge cases like abandoned-cart recovery and failed subscription renewals
Shopify Plus Migrations
Migrating off Shopify's standard plan, off Magento, or off a legacy platform like BigCommerce is its own project with its own risks: lost SEO equity, broken customer accounts, and checkout downtime if it's rushed.
As a shopify plus migration agency, we handle this in a defined sequence: full audit of the existing store's data, URL, and app dependencies; a staged migration environment where the new store is built and tested without touching the live site; a redirect map so every existing product and collection URL forwards correctly; and a launch window planned around your order volume, not ours.
Shopify Plus specifically opens up scripts, flow automation, and multi-store/wholesale channels that standard Shopify doesn't, and migrations are also where we typically bring in custom checkout extensions if the brand needs behavior Shopify doesn't ship by default.

Custom Storefront & App Development
Some brands outgrow what themes and off-the-shelf apps can do, whether that's a subscription model with complex swap/skip logic, a build-your-own-bundle configurator, or a loyalty program tied into a POS system.
That's custom storefront and app development: headless Shopify builds using Hydrogen or a custom front-end talking to the Storefront API, custom Shopify apps built against Shopify's API when no existing app covers the workflow, and woocommerce development company work for brands that are committed to WordPress/WooCommerce rather than Shopify for cost or content reasons.
This tier is also where most d2c ecommerce development work involving custom subscription logic, membership tiers, or multi-currency and multi-region storefronts lands, usually the point where a brand's engineering needs outgrow what a single in-house hire could reasonably cover alone.
Our Process
-
01
Discovery and Audit
For migrations, this includes a full inventory of existing data, apps, and integrations. For new builds, it's a scoping session on catalog size, growth plans, and must-have features.
-
02
Architecture and App Selection
We decide platform (Shopify, Shopify Plus, WooCommerce, or headless) and which apps and integrations are actually necessary, rather than defaulting to a long list that slows the store down.
-
03
Design and UX
Product pages, collection browsing, and checkout flow, informed by our UI/UX design process where the project calls for it.
-
04
Build
Store setup, theme or custom storefront development, payment and shipping configuration, and app integration.
-
05
QA on Real Transactions
Test orders, discount codes, subscription billing cycles, and mobile checkout, not just desktop click-throughs.
-
06
Launch and Monitoring
Go-live, redirect verification for migrations, and a monitoring window on order flow and page speed immediately after launch.
Pricing
E-commerce projects run $2,000–$25,000, with the range driven by:
- New store build on Shopify or WooCommerce ($2,000–$6,000): standard theme customization, standard catalog size, common app integrations.
- Shopify Plus migration ($5,000–$15,000): depends on catalog size, number of existing apps and integrations to replicate, and how much custom logic (subscriptions, wholesale, multi-currency) has to migrate cleanly.
- Custom storefront or app development ($10,000–$25,000): headless builds, custom checkout extensions, or bespoke subscription and loyalty logic that no off-the-shelf app handles.
Most brands don't need to guess which tier they're in. We scope it on the discovery call and give a fixed quote before any build work starts.
After launch, we offer a maintenance retainer covering app updates, seasonal theme changes, and checkout monitoring, since an e-commerce store is never really "done" the way a brochure site can be.
Retainer clients also get priority turnaround on time-sensitive changes, since a flash sale banner or a broken discount code the week before Black Friday isn't something that should sit in a general support queue.
Related Case Studies
Eqvanto is a new agency, and we're not going to invent store results or borrow someone else's numbers to look established. Our case studies page is where real project outcomes go live as stores launch and have measurable performance to share.
If you want to talk through a project we currently have in progress, we're glad to walk through what we're doing on it right now, including the decisions we made and why.
For brands specifically building a D2C or subscription business model, our D2C & e-commerce industry page covers how we think about the category beyond the build itself, and our SEO services team handles the product-page and collection-page SEO work that keeps a new store from launching invisible to search.
